COACH
The Berkeley Cougars Youth Football & Cheer Association is a non-profit 501 (C) (3) community based youth sports and mentor organization, dedicated to supporting student athletics and youth education. We provide our community children and at-risk youth a safe, competitive training environment with accessable after school educational programming. Participation in athletics and team building concepts play a valuable role in the development of children. Aspects of BCYF programs teamwork, health, fitness, self-esteem, community involvement, interpersonal skills, and fair play all contribute to the overall growth and maturation of young people.

Berkeley Cougars, has a excellent reputation for producing quality youth football players, our young men are physically prepared and mentally focused with game-ready skills for the next level of competition. We generally operate on a shoestring budget each year like most non-profit organizations, regardless of fiscal circumstances and unforeseen challenges we maintain a high level of professional training and readiness. Last year we began implementing mentoring programs and on-site tutoring during football and cheer practices, using volunteer parents and local college students as interns and assistant career coaches.

Several certified football and cheer coaches are currently educators, ensuring sports and education are both at the forefront of our mission for servicing Alameda County youth and their families. 2110 will undoubtedly be another year of pressures and challenges to meet organizational goals, we look forward to serving the community and young people, and can’t wait for another amazing football and cheerleading season.

Upon completion of each season we submit comprehensive evaluations to parents of both football players and cheerleaders, outlining completed phases of training and goals set by each athlete prior to the season.
